OUR STORY
How Our Mission Began
Co-Founded by leadership from Leavitt Partners and MATTER in 2017, the Health Care Council of Chicago was built as a platform for health care companies in Chicago to network and share collaborative ideas to solve complex problems in the community.
Since the inception of HC3 we have endeavored to be widely inclusive of the many different stakeholders and entities that constitute our city’s health care industry. The range of expertise and skills housed in this city not only do good for its residents, but influence the nation as our innovations, research, and ideas impact the broader system.
WE SHARE ONE VISION
Meet the Team
HC3 Co-Founders
On a business trip to Nashville Tennessee, co-founder David Smith was inspired by the comradery and connectivity that the Nashville Health Care Council had fostered within their local healthcare community. Eager to find Chicago’s equivalent, Smith ascertained there was an opportunity to cultivate a cross-sector health care coalition to connect and empower Chicago’s health and business leaders.
At the time David was a member of the leadership team at Leavitt Partners and asked his industry colleague Steven Collens at MATTER to join him in co-founding this collaborative effort. By leveraging both of their entity’s resources, they established a platform for thought leadership to drive real change in Chicago’s health care ecosystem.
In 2018, David left his position at Leavitt Partners to start his own health care consulting firm, Third Horizon Strategies. HC3 continues to operate as initiative of Third Horizon Strategies.
